Originally from New Orleans, Bobby Breaux has been playing and teaching in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1983. After receiving his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Loyola University in 1977 he traveled throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico and Europe performing with Mike Vax, Al Hirt, Ellis Marsalis, and The Woody Herman Orchestra. He has also worked for numerous entertainers such as Bob Hope, Frank Gorshin, Brook Benton, Jim Hall, Eddie Daniels, Pete Christilieb, Bobby Shew, Eartha Kitt, George Kirby, Joe Williams, Sheena Easton and the Gatlin Brothers, to name a few. Bobby has also performed on many commercial jingle recording sessions for accounts such as Popeye’s Chicken, Great America Theme Parks and BBC’s Radio One. He has also played drums and percussion for various stage shows and musicals including Jesus Christ Superstar, Hello Dolly and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Currently, Bobby performs with Bobby Young & Unique at Arthur’s in Addison, Trinity United Methodist Church of Arlington, The N’Awlins Gumbo Kings, Randy Lee and Bottom Line, Dennis Cavalier & Texas Zydeco and the Sam Walker Trio at Birraporetti’s – Arlington Sunday morning jazz brunch. Other groups you might find him working with occasionally in the D/FW area are the Vicho Vicencio Orchestra, James Davis Orchestra, Ron Lawrence, the Texas Gypsies and Brian Piper.
