Makeup Policy
We consider your private lesson time to be a standing appointment. If the teacher has to miss a lesson, it will be made up. If the student misses a lesson, PRIOR NOTICE IS REQUIRED. Twenty-four hour notice is preferable. However, if a student wakes up ill on a lesson morning, please call the instructor before 12:00 p.m.
Under these circumstances, (with proper prior notice) the teacher will make up ONE lesson per student per semester.
Please contact your instructor directly as messages cannot always be relayed through the church office.
Drop Policy
If a student chooses to discontinue study, a written notice must be submitted one month before cessation of lessons. Two months tuition must be paid— the month of notice and the following month. Any student dropping after March 15 will be required to pay the remaining tuition.
Instrument Policy
A student should be able to practice on an instrument that facilitates progress. Guitars and violins should be fitted to the individual and may need upgrading as the child grows. Piano students may begin on a keyboard for one semester only. After that time, having an acoustic piano is imperative, or the student’s technique will suffer, and precious instructional time will be lost. Likewise, drum set students may begin on a snare drum for one semester only. The Director and teachers will be happy to recommend dealers for new, used, or rental instruments.
Accompanist Policy
For recitals, an accompanist fee is charged for vocal, violin and flute students. Students requiring an accompanist will be charged $40 to be paid directly to the accompanist and will include 2 rehearsals and the performance. Students who only receive 1 rehearsal prior to the performance will only pay the accompanist $30. The decision as to whether there will be 1 or 2 rehearsals with an accompanist is at the discretion of the individual teacher.
For festivals, the accompanist fee for vocal, violin and flute students will be paid for by the Academy and will include 1 rehearsal and the festival performance.
